==== Provenance and time ====

Every durable memory needs a source URI, capture time, and content hash. The service accepts HTTP(S), file, and transcript URI sources. A local absolute path is normalized to a file URI by the service; an autonomous MemoryRemember call with no source is attributed to the current session transcript. Use the original source that supports the claim, not a plausible-looking replacement. The service fills captured_at with its current timestamp when the caller omits it.

For a source-backed synthesis, metadata can preserve author, record_type, verification evidence, source date, historical flag, import time, local URI, source commit, and temporal role. The autonomous tool adds a recorded_in transcript pointer. A strong entry separates the claim from its evidence and uncertainty, then says why it matters or how to apply it. For mutable facts, retain an observation date and re-check before acting. A source URI proves where a statement came from; it does not by itself prove the statement is true today.

The graph worker prepends source and kind to indexed passages. When a record is historical, it also adds the imported author's identity and source date, plus the configured historical warning. HippoRAG results carry provenance fields back to recall. CPU-vector results also include source, kind, capture time, hash and metadata. Always retain citations when summarizing results.

The versioned memory core adds another layer: a manifest binds source snapshots and segment files by SHA-256; each segment cites source IDs and declares temporal_role and historical. A core synthesis supplements preserved source memories; it does not replace them. Do not rewrite raw sources to make the current view simpler.
