Prompt ownership and reload
The owner maintains ~/prompt.md. With normal composition, global and project BATBOX.md layers are composed by src/conversation/SystemPrompt.cpp. If BATBOX_SYSTEM_PROMPT_FILE=/absolute/path/prompt.md is set, that file replaces the composed prompt with its exact bytes and bypasses the normal layers; SystemPrompt.cpp reads it for each composition, so edits affect subsequent requests. An unreadable or empty override fails the turn. This variable is distinct from the three workers' individual files.
Each worker prompt path is recorded in its durable journal. AgentPrompt(agent_id=“self”) reports the worker's own path; workers can update only their own prompt, while the coordinator can initialize or update a worker. The next request reads the file again, without inserting prompt text into the transcript. These role names were matched from bounded prompt headings; no prompt body is reproduced. engine_chat.py agents remains the current canonical list if a worker is replaced or renamed.
