Sessions, compaction, and output artifacts
Observed: 2026-10-25 UTC. Live status snapshot timestamp: 2026-10-25T16:20:09Z; source and configuration facts are cross-checked against the f7a4de4 README. Raw prompt and reasoning bodies are intentionally not reproduced.
Durable session behavior
The autonomous coordinator and native workers each have durable session transcripts. Coordinator sessions are under ~/.batbox/autonomous/sessions/; worker sessions are under ~/.batbox/autonomous/workers/sessions/. Session messages, tool calls/results, and context checkpoints are persisted; a checkpoint becomes active only after it is durably recorded. Resume uses the newest checkpoint plus subsequent messages, while older transcript entries remain available. A process restart does not restore GPU KV cache state.
The current runtime is configured for a 200,000-token context and exact compaction at 120,000 tokens when backend tokenization is available. Compaction preserves recent complete tool-call/result groups and the latest actual user message; failed or incomplete summaries do not replace the active history. The local Qwen3.8-27B Hauhau Q4 profile uses temperature 1.3 and medium reasoning. The configured generation limit is 50,000 tokens shared by reasoning, visible answer, and generated tool-call text in one response. A subsequent tool round gets a fresh allowance; an output-length cutoff does not automatically resume the interrupted generation. Large token counts or prolonged reasoning are not completion evidence.
Reasoning and tool-output storage
Assistant reasoning remains a separate field in the assistant turn and is preserved through session storage and compaction. Streamed reasoning is also written to private per-request artifacts under each session's reasoning/ directory, with incomplete/rejected state when applicable. This is a durability behavior, not permission to copy reasoning into the wiki.
Tool results at least 512 KiB remain complete in the transcript and are also stored as private SHA-256-addressed artifacts under that session's tool-output/ directory: a raw .txt, a .pages.json manifest, and bounded page files. Active context shows a head/tail view and paths. Use the artifact path printed by the tool result, then read with an offset and small limit; for large files use its manifest and exact page paths. This keeps active context smaller without deleting the raw result. See direct tool use and what belongs in curated memory.
